In light of recent events in the UK regarding dog attacks, I thought that some dog owners and breeders may find this video intresting.
Although we don’t believe a good temperament is a given without the right guidelines, lifestyle and training throughout a dogs lifetime, we can start to put the foundations in place from birth. A puppies first main contact is with their mother, so we prioritise keeping the mother well-nourished, supported, and stress-free during pregnancy and rearing of their litter.
A calm and healthy mother is less likely to pass on anxious behaviours to her litter, providing a stable environment for the puppies early weeks of life.
So, in this video we try to explain certain routines we have in place to help our puppies feel happy and contented to reach those first early milestones.

From a breeder’s perspective, a video like this isn’t just a montage of cute moments, it is a portfolio of professional care and a testament to the labour of love that goes into those first 56 days of your puppy’s life.
Sometimes its thinking about the work and knowledge that goes into raising a litter in the right conditions allowing them to progress to the next stage in their development.
We want you to feel part of this journey and development from the start so as breeders we feel the need to keep you updated with regular videos showing you the process from start to finish with important information and tips along the way.
When we share these videos with you, we are inviting you into the most crucial chapter of your puppy’s life. As breeders, our work begins long before these pups are born, but these first eight weeks are where the foundation of your future companion is built.
In the beginning, you see the quiet. My role here is ensuring the mother is supported, well nourished, and stress free so she can focus entirely on her litter. This stage is about health, warmth, and the first gentle touches that teach a puppy that humans are a source of comfort.
Many people say to me how do you produce such nice litters? My response is always the same, you look after the mother first!
As you watch them grow from three to five weeks, you’re seeing the ‘awakening.’ We are carefully monitoring their milestones: the first time they find their feet, the moment their eyes focus on a face, and the transition to solid food. We make these environments safe yet stimulating, allowing their natural curiosity to override their fears.
Then from six to eight weeks of age our focus shifts to confidence building. The outdoor play you see isn’t just playtime it’s an education. We introduce different textures under their paws, new sounds, and social interactions with siblings and people.
We are looking to mould those personality traits as a litter ensuring foundations are set for training to begin in their new homes.
Our goal is that by the time your puppy leaves for their new home, some of the ‘hard work’ of early development is done, leaving you with a brave, healthy, and happy family companion.

Nearly 7 years ago i had a litter of Labradors and decided to keep a puppy for myself, we called her Treacle. I took the time to film my training journey with Treacle as i thought it would be a good tool for myself to watch her progress in real time and hopefully helpful to others.
I have now uploaded all videos in order to make it easy for others to follow.

As a breeder I have always concentrated on my bitch line for strength and bringing in compatible males to complement my line.
So Henry is the first home bred Golden retriever dog I have had standing at stud, I am very happy with what kind of dog Henry is turning into and his pedigree will complement my line for future generations.
